GAME OVER! Canada closes out an 11-0 win over Germany in its prelim opener at the 2024 IIHF Women's World Championship.

A hat trick for Sienna D'Alessandro, a record-tying five points from Chloe Primerano, a historic two goals for Caitlin Kraemer and a four-save shutout for Hannah Clark (the fewest shots ever allowed by Canada in a U18 Women's Worlds game).

Canada is right back to action tomorrow, taking on Czechia at 2 p.m. ET/11 a.m. PT.

We will see you then!

3rd - 5:38 | Cannot say enough about the job the German goaltenders have done in a tough situation ... Hannah Loist and Miriam Siebert are up to 48 saves in the dying minutes, including a few terrific stops from both.

3rd - 11:13 | GOAL! Make it two for Caitlin Kraemer, who takes a pass from Mackenzie Alexander and goes five-hole on Siebert.

CAN 11 - GER 0

3rd - 14:13 | GOAL! Morgan Jackson finds a loose puck at the side of the net and shows off her quick hands to tuck it past Siebert for her second of the game.

CAN 10 - GER 0

3rd - 18:01 | Anna Kindl is whistled for holding and Canada goes back to the power play, looking to stay perfect with the player advantage.

3rd - 20:00 | Back for the third period!

AFTER 2 | Canada pours it on in the second period ... six more goals and a 9-0 lead over Germany.

Sienna D'Alessandro has a hat trick, Chloe Primerano has tied the Canadian record for points in a game by a defender with five and the shots are 43-3.

2nd - 2:41 | GOAL! Chloe Primerano jumps in off the blue line and taps in a loose puck after great work by Emma Venusio to get the puck on net. Make it two goals and four points for Primerano.

CAN 9 - GER 0

2nd - 5:39 | GOAL! There it is! Caitlin Kraemer passes Marie-Philip Poulin to become the all-time leading goal scorer in the history of Canada's National Women's Under-18 Team!

CAN 8 - GER 0

2nd - 7:39 | GOAL! Special teams have been just that for Canada today ... 2-for-2 on the power play, Morgan Jackson adds a shorthanded marker, going high on the short-side to beat Siebert.

CAN 7 - GER 0

2nd - 9:12 | The Canadian penalty kill goes back to work as Makayla Watson gets two minutes for tripping.

2nd - 9:43 | GOAL! Reese Logan lets go a shot that hits Claire Murdoch up high and eludes Loist. Officials reviewed the play for potential interference, but it's a good goal.

That'll be all for Loist, who finishes with 28 saves on 34 shots in just over 10 minutes of work. Miriam Siebert is now between the pipes for the Germans.

CAN 6 - GER 0

2nd - 14:50 | Germany gets another opportunity with the power play ... Avery Pickering goes off for slashing.

2nd - 18:50 | GOAL! The Sienna Show continues. Sienna D'Alessandro finishes off her hat trick with a tap-in after terrific puck control from Sara Manness.

A dominant period for the Canadians, who hold a wide 22-1 advantage in shots on goal through 20 minutes.

1st - 1:30 | Already 1-for-1, Canada back to the power play ... Hanna Hoppe gets two minutes for hooking.

1st - 3:07 | GOAL! Sienna D'Alessandro showing off her hands in the first period ... a second tip-in goal, this one off an Avery Pickering slap shot that was four feet wide.

All eyes are on Caitlin Kraemer. Canada's top-line centre comes into this game even with Marie-Philip Poulin in all-time goals with Canada's National Women's Under-18 Team (16).

After scoring 10 times a year ago, including a historic four-goal effort in the gold medal game, it's a matter of when, not if, Kraemer will stand alone atop the goal-scoring list.

The Germans are back in the top division for the first time since 2013, which was the last time they faced Canada. In that one, Halli Krzyzaniak scored twice to lead the offence, Catherine Daoust had a power-play goal and Sarah Nurse scored shorthanded, while Jessica Dodds needed to make just five saves to record her first international shutout in a 7-0 Canadian win.

Jessica Campbell set the Canadian single-game scoring record against the Germans at the 2010 tournament, scoring twice and adding four assists in a 15-0 prelim win in Chicago.

Good evening from Zug! We are less than an hour away from puck drop as Canada's National Women's Under-18 Team opens its quest for a three-peat at the IIHF U18 Women's World Championship against Germany.

The Canadians have been virtually unbeatable in recent years; including U18 Women's Worlds, its annual summer series against the United States and few other international exhibitions, Canada has won 16 of its last 17 games dating back to its worst loss ever - a 7-0 defeat at the hands of the Americans in prelim play at the 2022 worlds.
