SCHENN’S HAT TRICK NOT ENOUGH FOR WEST
Woodstock, ON – Team West accomplished something that no other team has done thus far at the 2008 World Under-17 Hockey Challenge.
Team West had Team USA on the ropes.
Ahead 4-1 with five minutes to play in the second period, Team West seemed in control of a key Pool B matchup on Monday.
But Team USA showed why it is one of the favourites, scoring six unanswered goals the rest of the way for a 7-4 win.
The U.S. moved to 3-0 and West dropped to 2-1.
Jeremy Morin led the Team USA attack with a pair of goals and the squad got singles from Kyle Palmieri, Chris Brown, Kevin Lynch, Ryan Bourque, and Kenny Ryan.
Team West got a strong game from Brayden Schenn (Saskatoon, SK/Brandon, WHL), who had four points, including a natural hat trick in the second period. Scott Glennie (Winnipeg, MB/Brandon, WHL) had a goal and two assists for West.
