Sledhead: Canada's National Sledge Hockey Team Nominated for Three Leo Awards

Sledhead: Canada’s Sledge Hockey Team – a documentary that followed the national team for the 2007-08 season, through its victory at the 2008 IPC Sledge Hockey World Championship – which premiered on CTV last October, has been nominated for three Leo Awards, the film and television awards in British Columbia.

  • Best Documentary Program or Series (History/Biography/Social/Political)
  • Best Direction in a Documentary Program or Series – David McIlvride
  • Best Musical Score in a Documentary Program or Series – Michael Richard Plowman

The awards will be presented on May 8-9 at the Westin Bayshore Hotel in Vancouver.

In addition, it has been announced that Sledhead will be a featured documentary at four film festivals:

Okanagan Film Festival – Thursday, April 23 @ 6:15 p.m. – Paramount Theatre, Kelowna

Newport Beach Film Festival – Friday, April 24 @ 1:00 p.m. – Edwards Islands Cinemas, Newport Beach, Calif.

Sunscreen Film Festival – Friday, May 1 @ 6:15 p.m. – Muvico Theatres, St. Petersburg, Fla.

DeReel Film Festival – Saturday, May 9 @ time TBA – Victoria, Australia
