CALGARY, AB – Hockey Canada announced Wednesday the rosters for the upcoming Swiss Challenge and 2008 Deutschland Cup. A total of 41 players will be used for the two events, with only two – Richie Regehr (Rosthern, SK) and Mario Scalzo (St-Hubert, QC) – playing at both.

Canada’s National Men’s Team will face the Swiss national team on Tuesday, November 4 in Rapperswil, SUI in the Swiss Challenge, while the 2008 Deutschland Cup will run from November 7-9 in Mannheim and Frankfurt, GER. Canada last participated in the Deutschland Cup in 2006, winning bronze. It has won the tournament on three occasions (2000, 2002, 2005).

All of the players taking part in the Swiss Challenge and the 2008 Deutschland Cup are Canadians playing professional hockey in European leagues.

“A number of Canadians playing professionally in Europe give their time every year to play for Canada,” said Johnny Misley, Hockey Canada’s executive vice-president of hockey operations. “These players are true ambassadors of the game for Canada, and we are excited to watch them represent their country on the international stage.”
