RIGA, LETTONIE – Équipe Canada a disputé son troisième match avant le championnat mondial, son premier en sol européen, et a battu la Lettonie par la marque de 3 -1.
La Lettonie a marqué le seul but de la première période, mais le Canada a riposté en deuxième période en marquant trois buts sans réplique. Trois joueurs ont marqué pour le Canada soit Patrick Marleau, Simon Gagné et Dany Heatley.
Après une troisième période sans but, le Canada obtient donc sa deuxième victoire en trois matchs avant le championnat. Martin Brodeur a été devant le filet canadien pendant tout le match et n’a alloué qu’un but avant d’être nommé Joueur du match. Janis Sprukt a été nommé Joueur du match de la Lettonie.
Équipe Canada se rendra à Prague en République tchèque demain où elle affrontera la République tchèque dans son quatrième match avant le championnat.
